A Floral Image | Hidden from Sight
The Calla Lily must be one of my favorite flowers. It has been a long time since I have attempted captured an image of this Lily as it is one of those flowers I find difficult to do justice too.

I decided on this occasion to visit the Alpine Gardens as I rarely spend any time there and I was confident I was missing something. And I was right, I came across this Mountain Cornflower which I had not seen before.
Shooting (ne photographing) birds is not a common event for me. In fact a quick browse through my galleries and you’ll be hard pressed to find many. However when the opportunity does arrive I certainly won’t turn it down.
Purple Crocuses were having way too much fun on my blog this Spring so I thought I would break up the party a little with an Anemone. They are a flowering plantsin the buttercup family Ranunculaceae in the north and south temperate zones.
A close-up image capturing the shape and texture of a flowering Strelitzia Reginae with dewdrops on its base. The Strelitzia Reginae, also known as the Bird of Paradise Flower, indigenous to South Africa has been on my photographic list from the first time I saw it almost two years ago in our local Botanical Gardens here in Dublin.
It seems like the world is facing extreme weather conditions right now, whether it’s snow and ice or flooding. I thought I’d share an image that portrays the cold but maybe not quite as harsh as we all seem to be facing right now. Let’s call it a romanticised view of winter 🙂 Camera: Canon…
This Calla Lilly was captured in May 2008 and is one of the most pivotal images in my portfolio. I remember the day I was in the Botanical Gardens for the first time and happening across a bed of Calla Lilies.

Taken at 8am just as the sun was rising on a very frosty morning on Skeagh in Bailieborough, Co Cavan. It was such a peaceful start to the day and everything was covered in the lightest of frosts when I arrived to the lake.
I am currently traveling so this is a post I prepared last week and is being automatically published. Technology eh! its wonderful 🙂 This was taken earlier this year during my numerous visits to the botanical gardens. It is actually a very tight crop of the right petal (Leaf?) of an Orchid. I wanted to…
As we continue to head deeper into Autumn and then on to a fairly inevitable harsh winter I thought I would share the above image taken at the beginning of spring last year. It’s nice to be reminded that new life is just around the corner I think. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II Lens:…
Lilies are one of my favorite flowers, and water lilies even more so. I’ll always try and capture their delicate beauty whenever I see them. It was August 2009 the last time I shared some water lily images so I thought I would share this with you from a visit to the Botanical Gardens last…
