A Floral Image | Winter is Over

A Floral Image | Wow didn’t we have a lovely March here in Ireland! Spring seems to be about Cherry Blossoms now more then Tulips, at least where I live.
A Floral Image | A tiny stamen protrudes from a bed of yellow petals of this Tulip. These beautifully vibrant yellow Tulips really caught my eye as I was wandering through the Italian Gardens.
Spring is here! While I love what every season brings, Spring offers something truly special. This image above captures the very essence of that new life for me. The bud of a new flower literally bursting from the ground. The dead brown leaves surrounding the vibrant pink flower stem acting as a classic juxtaposition – winter/death vs spring/life.
Well firstly let me start off by wishing you all a very happy New Year. One of the images that made it into my Top 10 for last year was a piece entitled A Line of Crocuses which I originally shared with you in March. I’d like to share an alternate composition of the same subject with you today.

Another image from my recent trip around the Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin here in Dublin. This is also of a Purple Crocus that are in such abundance at the moment. You can just about make out in the back a veritable sea of purple. I talked recently about the love-hate relationship I have with my 70-200…
Spring has most certainly sprung here in Ireland. Along with the new growth we have had some beautiful days of hazy blue skys and bright sunshine, still on the chilly side though. While I really enjoyed our wintertime this year with plenty of frost and snow I am ready to move on to a new season. Crocuses,…
As we continue to head deeper into Autumn and then on to a fairly inevitable harsh winter I thought I would share the above image taken at the beginning of spring last year. It’s nice to be reminded that new life is just around the corner I think. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark II Lens:…
