A Floral Image | The Dew Covered Flower
An early morning visit to the Botanical Gardens in Dublin treated me to a freshly watered Rhododendron. The flowers were in full bloom and saturated in heavy droplets of water.

Shooting (ne photographing) birds is not a common event for me. In fact a quick browse through my galleries and you’ll be hard pressed to find many. However when the opportunity does arrive I certainly won’t turn it down.
Purple Crocuses were having way too much fun on my blog this Spring so I thought I would break up the party a little with an Anemone. They are a flowering plantsin the buttercup family Ranunculaceae in the north and south temperate zones.
Well it appears as if March is the month of the Purple Crocus, atleast according to this blog. This is the 3rd image I have posted and I have in fact published 5 to my portfolio. I mentioned earlier that these flowers, along with Tulips mark the beginning of Spring for me.
Another image from my recent trip around the Botanical Gardens in Glasnevin here in Dublin. This is also of a Purple Crocus that are in such abundance at the moment. You can just about make out in the back a veritable sea of purple. I talked recently about the love-hate relationship I have with my 70-200…
Spring has most certainly sprung here in Ireland. Along with the new growth we have had some beautiful days of hazy blue skys and bright sunshine, still on the chilly side though. While I really enjoyed our wintertime this year with plenty of frost and snow I am ready to move on to a new season. Crocuses,…
A close-up image capturing the shape and texture of a flowering Strelitzia Reginae with dewdrops on its base. The Strelitzia Reginae, also known as the Bird of Paradise Flower, indigenous to South Africa has been on my photographic list from the first time I saw it almost two years ago in our local Botanical Gardens here in Dublin.
Hi Folks, apologies for it being a little quiet around here for the last couple of weeks. I have a couple of things going on all at once which is taking up a lot of my time. Anyhow here’s another image from my recent trip to the Botanical Gardens and ongoing my experimentation with the…
I took the opportunity last weekend to visit our local Botanical Gardens here in Dublin. It doesn’t mater what time of year it is you are always sure to find something in bloom. And after plenty of grey Sky’s and rain recently it was a great way to lift my spirits. One thing I promised…
So this week has been all about Lough Tay and the surrounding area and it continues with today’s post. I kicked this series off on Monday with an image entitled The Fence and the Field. In that post I mentioned that it was one of two images I captured in that location. Today I present…
On Tuesday I spoke about my weekend trip to Lough Tay in the Wicklow Mountains and today I will continue with another image from that trip. After I had finished up at the top of the mountain I began to work my way back down. Some of these valleys don’t see sunlight for more then an hour after sunrise.
As I was driving the clouds began to part and I felt my spirits lift. Once I turned of the main roads and started to head up the mountain side the temperatures began to plummet also and it wasn’t long before I was driving on frost covered roads – oh joy! I spent the time during actual sunrise down near Lough Tay and then headed up to this spot, about a 10min drive, once the sun started to crest the mountains.
