At sunrise on Folly Beach in South Carolina, the old fishing pier stretches quietly into the Atlantic as the first light of day settles across sea and sky. Gentle waves move beneath the structure, their motion softened by time, while pastel tones spread through the clouds above the horizon.
Colour and rhythm define the scene. Warm hues of peach and pale gold blend with cooler blues and greys, creating a balanced, unhurried atmosphere. The repeating supports of the pier introduce a steady cadence across the frame, anchoring the composition as water and light remain in constant, subtle motion.
In print, the layered movement of the surf separates into soft, flowing bands rather than a single blur, preserving the sense of tide and direction. The delicate colour transitions in the sky remain continuous, allowing the relationship between structure, water, and morning light to unfold with clarity and calm beyond the screen.
