Rat Island; not the most enticing of place names is it?! I can assure you though it is beautiful, and I am relieved to say I did not see a single rat.
Late last year I shared a photograph taken on Folly Beach, of the beautiful old wooden Fishermans Pier during a gorgeous sunrise. Todays image is also from that Summer 2014 trip where I spent a few glorious days on the coast of Charleston County. In fact this image was taken during the very next sunrise, and I remember it distinctly because of the summer storms. It was a little touch and go on whether I was actually going to shoot anything this morning as I listened to the rolling thunder and wondered was another storm on the way. Thankfully though it held off and I spent a wonderful couple of hours photographing and walking barefoot along the beach.
I mentioned in the Folly Beach post that the photograph was one of the last images I took with my Canon 5D Mark II, before the switch to the Sony A7r. After checking my catalog I can confirm that the series of images I took on this morning at Rat Island were indeed the very last for that trusty Camera which served me fantastically for 51/2 years.
