Donegal (Irish: Dhún na nGall), wild and rugged. That is always how I think of this county which is part of the Border Region and is in the province of Ulster. And you don’t get much wilder than this!
I spent a week in Donegal, after Athena and I completed our Causeway Coast Photography Workshop in March this year. To say the weather was challenging is somewhat of an understatement. We were hit initially with pretty heavy, albeit localised, snow fall. This was followed directly by a multi-day storm, Storm Jake to be precise. And what do you do in a storm, well you go photograph it of course 🙂 This image was taken at Doagh looking over to Croaghnamaddy hill during sunset as the storm was reaching its peak, with gusts of 60mph. Fun? Yes, it was 🙂
Along with shooting I also delivered another Photography Club talk, on this occasion on the topic of Botanical Photography to the very warm and welcoming Letterkenny Photographic Club. If you would like me to speak at your club in 2017, please contact me.
