“A strong mind always hopes, and has always cause to hope.” ~ Thomas Carlyle
Last June I visited Northern Ireland with my good friend
Vartry Reservoir has been on my shoot list for sometime now, and I really have no idea why it has taken me so long to visit it as it is just 45mins from my home. Nevertheless I decided a couple of weeks ago to head up there, after a trip to Greystones and see if I could catch some nice light at sunset.
I have seen many great images of this unique structure and when I came to photograph it myself I decided I wanted to take a slightly different approach, although I did also take some of the more traditional compositions also.
This was my first proper outing with my new Sony A7r camera, a big change for me after using Canon for so long. That change however is a different conversation entirely, and one deserving of a post of it’s own once I’ve had more time with the new body.
So for now I’ll leave you with this, a Black & White Long Exposure of a rather moody Sunset over this stark tower and bridge built in the mid-19th century.
