“The pursuit, even of the best things, ought to be calm and tranquil. ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
On the last weekend of October I made my annual trip to County Cavan. We’ve spent the Halloween weekend in Cavan for the last 12 years. We’ve actually stayed in the same Log Cabin on Skeagh Lake for the last 8 years. Hey I’m a creature of habit I like my traditions.
With that history it may come as a surprise when you visit my County Cavan Gallery to see so few images. While I do take my camera with me on these weekends I never actually plan an outing and so take a more relaxed attitude to shooting. This year however I decided to change that and carefully planned two outings while I was there.
This is the first image I wanted to share from that weekend. Taken during a beautifully still and quiet sunrise over Lough Ramor just outside the town of Virginia. Cavan is known as ‘The Lakeland County’ and is reputed to contain 365 lakes (source: wiki) and Lough Ramor is just one example.
