In my post last week entitled The Gnarled Oak In The Forest I talked about visiting a local woods, about 45mins drive from my home. The Massy Wood is a treasure throve of ancient trees and wildlife.
This image was taken not long after entering the woods just after sun rise; you can see how low the sun is in the bottom left of the image. This oak is one of the many ‘Personality’ trees I came across. It really dominates the Pines around it by it’s sheer size yet still wears its bare winter branches while the pines are, as always covered in green.
Captured at 17mm this really is an Ultra Wide Angle. With an Angle of View of 104° I can capture the tops of the trees all the way down to just above the ground. I typically do not shoot this wide but it was a lot of fun in this space.
