We were offered the chance last June to spend a week in a beautiful house in Enniscrone, Co Sligo. Very near to Ballina Enniscrone boasts a beautiful beach that we made use of the entire week we were there. For those of you that remember last summer it will be pretty obvious that we weren’t using the beach for sunbathing 🙂 We did however take many a wind blown walk along it. This was strictly an R&R holiday and while I did have my camera with me it stayed in the bag for most of the week. Apart from one single evening.
On the way into the village you pass by Enniscrone Golf Course, positioned right beside the sea. And running right the way through the golf course is a small river making its way to the beach. The more often I passed it the more convinced I was that there was a photograph there.
So one evening when the wind had died down and the clouds were not too heavy I headed out there. I made my way down across the fields and hoped over a fence in to some very wet marsh land beside the river. Undeterred I worked my way around the area and eventually settled on this composition. It was simply then about waiting for the sun to drop low enough to light up the light clouds that were over the sea.
