This is another one of those locations I pass very regularly and think to myself “John, bring your camera with you next time”. And so it was that last Saturday I was just returning from a morning spent photographing in a local woods that I decided to pay Seapoint a visit. Much like the 40ft this is a popular spot for swimmers and even though it actually started to snow while I was down here it was not enough to dissuade several brave souls from jumping in to the icy atlantic.
There is no denying it is also a popular spot for photographers and I was very conscious of this as I walked the location considering possible compositions. While I was aware of some excellent work from fellow photographers from this place I was hopeful I could offer something new.
And this is what I ended up taking away. A 2×1 panoramic style image composed with one of the slipway’s leading the viewer out into a silky calm sea and on to the famous Chimney Stacks of Poolbeg Generating Station. I used a combination of a 2 minute long exposure and applying a blue duotone effect in post to produce the final image.
