Back around this time in 2010 I shot an absolutely stunning sunrise at Howth Head near the Baily Lighthouse. At the time “I had to trample over knee-high brambles to get in position for this shot, my legs were cut to shreds” but I felt “it was worth [it]” . I guess I was right as that image, Sunrise Over Howth went on to be one of my best sellers of all time and I continue to sell prints to this day.
I spent the last couple of weeks revisiting my Archive of images to do my annual clean-up; and to also reevaluate photographs that did not get picked up on my 1st pass. This is a valuable exercise and I have spoken about this practice on several times in the past. During this revisit of my archives I came across the images I took during the above trip in January 2010; and from there this image. This was taken just 12 minutes before Sunrise Over Howth yet it has a completely different quality of light; much softer with less intensity in the colour palette.
