Well first and foremost can I wish you all a very Happy New Year. I hope 2013 delivers on at least a few of your hopes and dreams.
I thought I would use today to post an image from my very last shoot of 2012. During a photowalk organised earlier on in the year over on Google+ I discovered some little treasures around Dalkey that I had not been aware of before. One of those was Whiterock Beach and I made a mental note during that visit to return when things were a little less hectic… there were 20+ of us on the photowalk. When it came to planning a last outing for 2012 with by good friend Brian Fitzpatrick I suggested this spot. To be honest neither of us held out high hopes for a successful sunrise shoot given the weather forecast. There was also the Christmas revelry that was beginning the catch-up with me too 🙂
Morning world. Just getting ready to go out on a sunrise shoot with @brianfitz1. Weather doesn't look great but so what eh! 🙂

And I think the image above yet again proves why you shouldn’t plan too much around the weather forecast. While the forecast was generally right and the clouds did come in and it did rain the sunrise itself turned out to be spectacular. The tide was on its way back in by dawns arrival though so time was short before the area was under water. Indeed I found out the hard way as just shortly before this image was taken I was working on another composition and as I was focusing on the screen the water came up (sneakily) on my left and right side and then came crashing in from behind me. Folks always have spare socks with you (thanks Brian!).
In parting… Victor Borge said once “Laughter is the shortest distance between two people” so I for one am voting for a lot more laughter in 2013. Are you with me?
