In early June I officially unveiled my new site which had been in development for 5 months. In that post I spoke about how I felt the original site had become “really really bloated cumbersome busy and this was taking away from it’s core purpose i.e. display my photography”. I described my design brief as being “all about cleaning this up, getting back to a simple clean interface that enhances my images rather then crowding them. I needed to do this while keeping all the functionality that was used today by the visitors to my site (like you)”. After almost a full month I still believe I have been successful, and from all the lovely comments I have received I guess you do too. I very much appreciate all your support and I continue to make small changes around the site, updating older posts and pages.
And it is one of those page updates I wanted to talk to you about today. There was another aspect of my site that was niggling away in the back of my mind over the last year. Really? What was that John? Well I’m glad you asked, and it’s big! Well atleast I think it is. Does the idea of owning a Print of one of my images for as little as $15 sound like big news to you? Well if so read on to find out more…
When I relaunched my site in July last year I wanted to ensure I offered as broad an audience as possible the opportunity to own a print of one of my images. I worked with my local Fine Art Printer to identify the best paper types and print methods to present my work at its best. I was blown away by the quality of his work and nothing lifted my spirits more then to see a print, signed by me, get posted out to it’s new owner. And better still hear back from the new owner about how delighted they were. However I also realised that level of personal attention, and Fine Art papers, came at a cost and with starting prices at $50 it might dissuade a first time buyer from investing in a Fine Art print. Let’s face it in today’s economy $50 can be a lot of money.

So in December I started to research possible options to expand my portfolio print offerings. Is there someone out there that can help deliver a high quality print but at a lower entry price. Well the answer is yes! After much discussion and testing I have partnered with a professional Photo Lab based in Texas. These guys have been in the business since 1975 and know their stuff. They use only professional grade printing processes and Fuji Crystal Archive Papers with excellent print permanence characteristics, and you can choose from a Lustre, Matte or Glossy finish when ordering your print. They also offer a number of shipping options including FedEx Overnight, USPS Priority Mail and USPS First Class. They normally turn orders around in just 24 hours and depending on your choice of shipping method you can typically expect to receive your order within a week or less.
When partnering with a Photo Lab I was also very conscious about shipping costs particularly for my customers outside America and I am delighted to say shipping from the Photo Lab is very reasonable, typically costing between $3 and $10. They ensure all prints are carefully packed in reinforced envelopes, or postal tubes for the larger sizes, to ensure your order arrives safely.

And for the first time here on John Dunne Photography I am offering you the option of ordering Photo Canvas Wraps through my Photo Lab in Texas. These canvases are made from durable, heavy weight professional cotton canvas printed using a Gicleé process with archival inks. This canvas is then applied and stretched on professional 1½” heavy stretcher bars. These canvas prints are classic, yet contemporary ready to hang instantly as wall décor without frames. These stretched canvas prints have a durable protective coating that resist scratching and moisture. The backs of the stretched product are sealed with a paper backing and have hanging hardware installed.

Of course if you are looking for something truly special I still offer my Signed Gicleé Prints. I work closely with a local Fine Art Printer here in Dublin who has 20+ years of experience in the industry. We choose from only the finest Hahnemühle papers and select the best paper finish for your order . The light fast pigment inks and heavy-weight (285~325gsm ) fine art, archival paper ensure that the print will provide lasting enjoyment and pleasure for decades to come. Each print is personally inspected and signed by me prior to shipment.
