Earlier last month I posted a landscape orientated Floral Macro image entitled Purple Haze of a Centaurea montana. The image I am posting today was from the same series although taking a different perspective on the flower also known as a Bachelor’s Button.
The most obvious difference is the portrait orientation of the image. I also wanted to bring out the detail in the stem of this flower which as you can see has this amazing diamond textured pattern. I choose a slightly smaller aperture of f/5 to allow me to open up enough detail but still keep the petals relatively hazy and abstract. I fired off a strobe at 1/64th power just to lift the subject from the background and to add dimension in the stem.
Hope you like it?
