[column width=”60%”padding=”3%” ]My Saturday sunrise trip to Trim Castle turned into an 11 hour photographic marathon and I loved every minute of it 🙂 The images from Trim should follow later this week but to get things kicked off I thought I would post this Crazy Daizy. And where was this captured you ask? In a Garden Centre! Yup, never discount anywhere as a possible location for photography. I did need to work around all the shoppers but it was well worth as the centre was full of vibrant life of every colour.
I continue to experiment with flash in my macro work as I have discussed here and here. In this image I set the camera on a tripod and mounted my trusty 100mm Macro. Choosing a a relatively closed down aperture of f/8 to get as much of the front of the stamen in focus as possible. Shutter speed was set a 1/30 which left the image slightly underexposed. I then placed the flash almost directly underneath the flower head pointing upwards and set at 1/64th power. This I think helped to provide a very ethereal quality to a common composition. What do you think?
BTW I also decided to produce a B&W version also.
