“Whatever you do, or dream you can do – begin it. Boldness has genius and power and magic in it.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
With the launch of my new site I decided to start digging in to my archives and share with you images that I have never blogged about before and therefore have not had the chance to share some of the back story. To kick things off I present ‘Rays Of Light’ which is one of the earliest images in my gallery, shot in September 2007
I will admit now this image holds a special place in my heart as my wife and I were married in Maratea, Italy in September 2006 and this was taken during our return visit for our 1st anniversary. We were relaxing by the sea soaking in the glorious end to another relaxing day. I was setting up my tripod, readying myself to capture the fading light of the setting sun when two things happened – amazing god rays and a yacht gently drifts around the coastline and into view. I was not so relaxed then as I scrambled to get everything set up. This was in the early days where I really did not know what I was doing (not that I know better now!) and was limited to a 400D, a kit lens and a cheap tripod. In saying that though I’d like to think this is a reasonable example of subject trumping any perceived gear limitations.
Do I look at this image now and think about how I would have shot or composed it differently, certainly but that is true of every image I have captured and no doubt ever will.
